TaskForce becomes official partner of Inter-African Commitee (IAC)

TaskForce becomes official partner of Inter-African Commitee (IAC).

The Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices (IAC) is the largest and most important  network that works for the abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation.  The IAC is a nongovernmental organization with the mandate of promoting positive traditional practices, while campaigning for the elimination of negative ones.

Its headquarters is located within the UNpremises in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and a Liaison Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Besides 28 National Comittees, the IAC has 17 affiliates worldwide, e.g. in the US, Australia or several european countries – and now TaskForce in Germany.

The IAC´s mission is to promote gender equality and contribute to the improvement of the health status, social, economic, political, human rights and quality of life of African women and children through elimination of harmful traditional practices and the promotion of beneficial ones.

Our common goal is to see a society in which African women and children fully enjoy their rights to live free from harmful traditional practices and are able develop their potentials to the fullest.

Since its foundation, the TaskForce has been co-operating with the IAC. In 2007, we launched a common petition with IAC to urge German organisations to respect the BAMAKO-declaration of the IAC.

We are delighted  to receive the IAC´s recognition of our work by becoming official partners.

We will continue to fight for the effective protection of girl-children and we will not stop to committ ourselves to ensure that African voices will be heard and respected in Germany.
